February-March 2026
The first edition of Bulgaria’s National Artificial Intelligence Competition has launched
successfully. From its very debut, the competition succeeded in identifying and recognizing
some of the most outstanding young talents in this rapidly developing field. This important
initiative for Bulgaria’s education system was made possible with the key technological support
of the Bulgarian AI Factory Brain++.
As the technological partner of the pilot edition, the Bulgarian AI Factory Brain++ provided
students with access to its powerful computing infrastructure. Thanks to this collaboration,
participants in the final round had the unique opportunity to work in an environment very close
to real-world conditions in modern technology companies. Through a remote computing cluster
and access to a specialized large language model, the high school students not only solved
theoretical problems but also tackled real practical challenges in machine learning, natural
language processing, and computer vision.
Interest in the first edition of the competition was exceptionally high. Of the nearly 180 students
who initially entered, more than 80 of the best young programmers took part in the in-person
final. Over the course of 6 hours, they developed and tested their own algorithmic solutions to
tasks related to machine translation, anomaly detection in images, and wild blueberry yield
prediction.
As a result, 13 participants demonstrated outstanding skills and won the first medals in the
history of the competition format.
Through its support for this new national initiative, the Bulgarian AI Factory Brain++ is further
strengthening its role as a key driver of innovation and in preparing the next generation of
leaders in information technology and artificial intelligence in Bulgaria.
